Tuition fees
For the academic year 2010/11 Loughborough University will charge a tuition fee of £3,290 for each full-time undergraduate degree programme.
The tuition fee does not normally have to be paid in advance. Instead, if you are eligible and decide to defer payment, you will be asked by the Government to make repayments from the April following the date of your graduation, provided that you are in paid employment earning more than approximately £15,000 per annum.
Students from all other countries in the European Union will be charged the same tuition fee as UK students. Information about fees and eligibility for financial assistance can be obtained from the Government's student finance website.
For students on sandwich placements, significantly reduced tuition fees are payable during any term in which you are placed in industry or elsewhere. This will be £660 in 20010/11 for a full year's placement.
Eligible UK and EU students will be able to take out a student loan for the exact amount of their tuition fee. This will be paid direct by the Student Loans Company to the University.
Loughborough University bursaries
To help with living expenses, in 2010/11 Loughborough will be offering a range of renewable bursaries to selected full-time UK students.
It is expected that the bursary scheme will continue in October 2011/12, but the values of the awards and the income thresholds may change. Please note the bursaries are not available to students from the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Further details of the bursaries and the terms and conditions relating to them can be found via our tuition fees and financial support pages.
Government maintenance grant
In addition to Loughborough University bursaries, students from low income families who are permanently resident in England may well be eligible for a maintenance grant of up to £2,906 per year (20010/11 level) from the Government.
This will be means-tested, with students with a household income of up to £25,000 (2010/11 level) receiving the full award. A sliding scale will apply to incomes between that figure and £50,020 (2010/11 level).
Detailed information on how to apply for this financial assistance can be obtained from Student Finance England. The Student Awards Agency for Scotland, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Department of Education for Northern Ireland produce detailed guides on student financial support.
Student loan for living costs
To help with living costs, eligible students permanently resident in the UK will also be able to take out a student loan.
The amount depends on where you live and where you are studying. For 2010/11 the annual loan for eligible students living away from home, but not studying in London, will be £4,950.
Students from England and Wales should apply for a loan through Student Finance England; students from Scotland through the Students Award Agency for Scotland; students from Northern Ireland through the appropriate Education and Library Board.
There may be further help with financial assistance towards living costs for some students, including disabled students and students with dependants. For further information contact Student Finance England on 0845 300 5090 or visit their website.
