It's Better OFF

Loughborough University has a national reputation for taking action on environmental issues. To continue this, we have launched a campaign entitled It's Better OFF to raise awareness about climate change and its causes as well as the practical things we can all do to improve our environment.
This is no ordinary campaign. We're all aware of the mass scale with which the media has been reporting global warming, rising energy prices, and oil availability. We're aiming to cut through the 'greenwash' and instead focus on practical measures that people can take to ensure visible change in their working environment. These practical applications may also be beneficial at home.
It's Better OFF will focus initially on energy efficiency. Over £11 billion is currently wasted in the UK through energy misuse, and it is this we are trying to tackle. It is not about radically changing our lifestyles. It's about taking responsibility for our actions, taking energy into consideration when making decisions, utilising resources effectively, and inspiring people to make a difference. Other issues such as waste, water consumption, and sustainable transport will also be covered.
Every member of the University - staff and students - will be involved. The campaign is being led by the Energy and Sustainability team in Facilities Management and they are keen to get people throughout the University on board. We have set up a network of campaign supporters - Environmental Champions - if you would like become one or would like some more information about the role, see the page linked on the tabs above.
Energy use is a global issue and therefore the more people on board, the more people making minor changes, the more impact the campaign will have.
